WTF??

The number of known victims is climbing after a shooting amid hundreds of shoppers in downtown Toronto on Boxing Day, with police saying a girl has died and at least six other people have injuries.

Officers initially said only four people had been wounded in the gunfire, but they told CBC News at about 7:30 p.m. EST that at least seven people had been shot.

Exactly how much blood did you want to accumulate on your hands, Jay, before you and the rest of the left wing freaks condemn and actively oppose your precious Liberal government? You don’t want a government that is sane on crime; you want a gay marriage government.

When the time came to choose between safe streets where people don’t randomly get shot and gay marriage, you chose gay marriage. You don’t get to express shock and outrage when someone gets shot; that privilege is reserved for those of us who are willing to stand up to this pro-crime, pro-criminal govenrment.

Banning handguns (already all-but-illegal) will not work. What may work is reviewing Canada’s immigration policies. Specifically, before allowing males under the age of 40 to enter the country, do a thorough background check for criminal records, education and employment history, press reports from the applicant’s home country—anything that may uncover a history of gang affiliation or violent crime. Our “let ‘em all in” policy has clearly led to disaster.

    Jay’s a “left-wing freak”?

If anything—though same-sex marriage was the last straw—he and others lost faith in Harper due to his being insufficiently right wing: pandering on domestic spending and on foreign policy. (I’m not endorsing that decision, but I understand it.)

    Thanks Tiger….

Sandalphon, for the moment we do not know – and I have tried to find out – the background of the shooters. I have suggested the idea of a moratorium on young male immigration from Jamaica in other contexts; but until we have more information this is not such a context.

A right-wing government that doesn’t give a rats-ass about the poorest people in the nation will do nothing to solve this problem which is rooted in our lower-income communities. Even a ‘right-wing freak’ should be able to comprehend that.

All already done. Which is why it took my American wife two years and $1475 to come across the border, even though she has no criminal record and was an NSF scholar and a recent college graduate in high-energy physics. Even then, they only accepted her because I wanted to marry her.

Tanja, there are plenty of very poor people who do not fire guns in the middle of a crowded street to settle what looks like a gang beef.

The shooters in this instance may or may not have been poor; but they were most certainly utterly indifferent to the lives of the people who might have been in the way of their bullets.

I don’t think such depraved indifference is amenable to trite lefty analysis about socio-economic conditions any more than it is tractable to sandalphon’s glib assumptions as to the immigrant status of the shooters.

We have two problems: first, taking measures to get these people off the streets. Second, figuring out how best to ensure that we are not breeding more of them.

I would be far more inclined to look at the culture of hip-hop and the wannabe “Bloods” and “Crips” than delving too far into the economics of sociopathology.
