Who were those masked men?

These are pictures of the raid on Marc Emery’s seed operation in Vancouver. So here’s the question: are those Vancouver undercover cops trying to protect their identies (ugly, but fairly standard operating proceedure) or are they DEA guys operating in Canada??
It is impossible to tell; but a CPC on the ball and the NDP for sure should be asking the Minister of Justice who these masked men were and they should demand proof that these were not DEA agents operating in Canada.
Jesus Jay, think about it, the drug enforcement squad wears masks on EVERy raid to protect their identities for the safety of their families and friends. Gimme a friggin break already. Could you imagine if they were busting the Hells Angels and all their faces were in plain view??????
Ah, but Dazzlin, this was not a raid. This was a set of arrests pursuant to an extradition request. There was no reason for the drug squad to be involved at all.
Besides, my point is really political. If the butterheads in the CPC only realized it between Emery and softwood lumber there is a huge opportunity to play the Canadian soverignty card.
there are very few Canadians as pro-American as I am…right up to the point where they try to arrest Canadian citizens for barely criminal activities and ignore rulings in trade disputes.
A smart political party would hammer the Liberals on both files and join them under the rubric “Defending Canada’s Rights”. No doubt the NDP is getting ready to right now; too bad the CPC is too brain dead to do it themselves.
I think you raise a good point Jay… about why are these agents “masked”. I think it’s because they aren’t actually RCMP officers at all, or indeed, even Canadian Law Enforcement Officers. I don’t think it has much to do with their personal safety being at risk.. I think that it has far more to do with the political fall-out that the DEA Agents operating in Canada, if the Canadian people understand that what’s being done to Marc, could be done to them, by government agents from another government.
I recall from earlier raids on Marc’s work.. that the pot-activists would video-tape and photograph the officers in these “raids”... not because they were trying to cause harm.. but to prove that these aren’t even Canadian cops. Hence the new use of Masks to keep their identities secret.
