Warnout Kantsellit and Lucy Pieman may think that chasing vandalizing teenagers around on the public dime is a priority in pursuit of civil justice but that seems to be a pointless avocation. Particularly when real atrocities like HRC political pandering of the budget priorities is creating revenue shortages which have created failing healthcare and senor care systems that leave needless body counts.

It appears Kinsella’s social priorities come to him while he engages in ideological masturbation.

The worst thing I can wish upon him is that he is forced to use the public health system that has been defunded by diverting revenue priorities to nebulous feel good witch hunting.

Do people really hire that sad sack for advice, what is it the Pakistani community is suppose to suck up? What’s he having a mental melt down about and what’s free speech have to do with the Pakistani Community? Is his assertion they shouldn’t be allowed Freedom of Expression or is his assertion that only Muslim Pakistani’s should have Freedom of Expression?

He’s not very literate or articulate, a good liberal soldier though.

Paki-bashing? Neo-Nazis? Warren is showing his age. I’m waiting for his post on how, if Section 13.1 is repealed, Canadian universities will start re-instating quotas for Jewish students. Have a toke, Warren, Woodstock lives.

Seriously, this whole debate is starting to have the feel of a swan song of the Trudeau Boomers. This was captured brilliantly by Kathy below. Warren’s “no one really gives a sweet damn.” in the face of mounting opposition from all his traditional pals is the first sign of a tired and bitter old man. I’m standing by for: “Will no one think of the children?”

I never cease to be amazed by the inventiveness of this guy’s spin. I suppose it is the inevitable result of crossing a lawyer with a wannabe politician. You would think the ridicule heaped on him when he likened critics of s13 to Nazis would have cooled his appetite for such agile non-sequitors. But no, what would be a full meal to most of us is but a mere appetizer. Pace my last posting re Hitler’s first edict, we must assume that Kinsella prefers his lobsters boiled alive.
Naturally he doesn’t go as far as explain how s13 could prevent the Edmonton vandalism. Given that it didn’t, how could he? I suppose he is implying that to remove it would cause such behavior to mushroom. Here in Australia we don’t have s13 or HRCs (although with a new Labor government, we can’t rule out the possibility), and there is no more (or less) of this activity. So s13 does absolutely nothing towards its stated aim. What it does do is provide undeserved income and relevance to venal bullshit artists like Kinsella and Warman.
Someone who draws more long bows than King Harry’s mob at Agincourt should really donate his brain to science. Neurologists could have whole conferences based on the wiring diagram.

Kinsella is far too timid in combating hate speech. s. 13 won’t do a damn thing to eradicate the problem since as soon as we have identified and eliminated one source of hate, another would almost certainly crop up. Doesn’t everybody see the real solution? It’s hateful words (symbols) that are the problem. If we had no hateful words we wouldn’t have to censor anybody.

I suggest we make up a list of words that people find offensive and get rid of them, all. I’ll even recommend that Kinsella begin the list. He might have to whittle his blog down a bit, but surely he won’t mind erasing some of his nastier musings in the interests of a nicer Canada.

Think of the advantages. Since we would have no way of expressing ourselves, spoken or written nastiness would no longer exist. Hate might still exist in the mind but we wouldn’t know it.

Of course physical manifestations of this nastiness might increase due to the frustration of not being able to express oneself but that would be a minor price to pay in making the world, and our public washrooms, much nicer places to be.
