Tucker Carlson does Ron Paul in TNR and I like it

I must admit I have always thought of Tucker Carlson as the ugly face of bright young thing conservatism and I think of Ron Paul as somehow aligned with the nitwits in Troother land and The New Republic as essentially engaged in making stuff up.

This piece changed my mind on all three points.

The Libertarian Party would like him to have another go at their presidential nomination if he is not successful as a Republican.

His libertarian message seems to draw support from an otherwise diverse collection of voters.
    From Wikipedia
“Throughout his 2008 presidential campaign, Paul is a leading candidate in Republican straw polls, though he has substantially lower numbers in landline opinion polls. He has strong Internet support, leading in web searches and YouTube subscriptions. On December 16, 2007, Paul had the largest one-day fundraiser in U.S. political history, raising over $6 million in 24 hours through a grassroots effort, organized independently from the official campaign.”
A very interesting man all and all.

There’s something delightfully compelling about the Paul candidacy, even if I simply cannot support him (foreign policy).

But I know exactly where he’s coming from—he makes sense. (He may get a protest vote from me, depending on how things are going next year. Esp. if the next election is Obama vs. Huckabee.)
