On a side-note, I’m amazed that the Aspers are allowing the National Post to take the position that they are, to the extent that they are. It could very well lose them a lot of Toronto Jewish readership. cherniak
If Cherniak really wants to reinforce the anti-semitic canard that the media is controlled by and for Jews he really could not have done a better job.
Cherniak is a graduate of the “Special Ed” law stream.
and so is cherniak stereotyping Jews…..?....does he really believe they’re all liberal democrats…..or communists ?
if he is then i’m flabbergasted…i confess i had no notion the jewish llleft were such avid readers/subscribers to the Postzeitung…it just doesn’t compute…..give me a moment to get my head around this idea…it MUST make sense on some level…

As far as I know, the Aspers themselves are Jewish. They feel perfectly comfortable with the position taken by the Post.
Perhaps Cherniak been doing his own polling of the Jewish community.
Perhaps he assumes he knows how people think based upon their ethnic/religious background.
The Aspers are business people. They have built a large readership among Toronto Jews on the basis of their coverage of Israel. I’m suggesting that this attack on anti-hate speech laws might lose them part of that readership. Your first reaction is to see a Jewish stereotype. You should be proud.

Actually, Jason, my first reaction was to think that you simply had no clue. I then reread your aside and wondered if you were transcribing from StormFront.

Jason Cherniak is nothing more than an uninformed snotnose. Someone his age with a law degree hasn’t spent much time in the real world, and therefore should be ignored.

It’s possible the Aspers know their Toronto Jewish readership hold differing viewpoints about S. 13. Odd notion, huh? Or possibly they trust them not to throw a hissy fit just because they read a dissenting view. Imagine that, two strange, difficult concepts for cherniak to grapple with.

agreed 110% – mr. cherniak can be forgiven for his misguided and youthful idealism – he is the product of skewed critical thinking processes. he must work on his ignorance. his good intentions do not count for much. actually, they’re dangerous.
young jason has an agenda,it colours his perception….malforms it….it always has you see because he’s never shut his gob long enough to hear anyone else’s argument…poor feller…he hung out with the one type of political animal in his formative years and found it a comfortable creche …..and never ever had the wit to think “gee, is this all there is ?)....and is perforce shown to be an eedjit by his peers(gosh but he sounds defensive these days!)..sigh…imagine being held in contempt at such an early age…i doubt whether he will ever dig himself out of the hole he’s dug himself…unless of course he’s the man i reckon he could be….come on jason…YOU can do it….read some stuff and take them spuds out of yer lugholes and listen to the other point of view…and read some history too…...and one day Jason..you COULD be elected dogcatcher in Flin Flon.

As a Jewish lawyer practicing in Toronto who stopped reading the Post after Mark Steyn was dropped, I agree that Cherniak’s musings are not only incredibly offensive, but that this sentence has run on for too long.
Well his line of thinking certainly fits in with how he runs his blog. JC historically has deleted posts from his blog that do not conform to his narrow viewpoint. This not only demonstrates a lack of maturity but a form of habitual narcissism bordering on an intolerant paranoia complex.
This guy really believes everyone thinks like he does. Which is ludicrous to the sane individual but fits perfectly into his narcissistic dementia envelope.
Missing Link may have it right. The Late Harry Browne wrote a book called “How I Found Freedom In An Unfree World”. In that book he points out the major traps that we fall into that enslave us. The first and most important of those traps is The IDENTITY TRAP.
That first basic trap is the one where you think that others will think, feel and act in a way you would to any given situation.
It requires true adult thinking and emotions to over come that delusion, but unless and until you do, you are doomed to be badly misinformed and incorrect about most things, that will bring on major frustration and ultimately, great unhappiness.
Jason C is not a happy man nor in Kinsella. Nor is most of the LEFT, since those folks simply cannot that some people think differently than they do.
That is why they must resort to the Gestapo tactics of HRC tribunals and various other intimidation tactics. That is why idiots like David Suzuki state that politicians who disagree with his global warming science should be jailed.
