Former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna rejected a run for the Liberal leadership on Monday, saying he doesn’t want his life to be consumed by politics.

A bit further down, there’s reference to the fact John Manley is not running either.

These are two smart, savvy, men. So why are they not running? Might this have something to do with it:

According to Elections Canada, in their last annual filing, the Liberal Party of Canada was $34,818,257.32 in debt, by way of 13 bank loans.
