The Jackal Pissed
Finally, bring human rights code complaints against them, in as many jurisdictions as possible, because that is the best and most logical forum to confront an outrage like this one.I’ll be interested in the response of the libertarian blogs to that last suggestion. lying jackal
As the HRC defenders would gleefully point out, notwithstanding the gross Anti-Semitism of Syd Ryan and Cupe, a HRC complaint does not have a ghost of a chance of beating the Taylor standard to which the HRC’s have nailed their colours.
That said, Syd is completely entitled, as is his union, to demand whatever boycott they want. The trick is to ignore and to mock the idiots demanding the boycott.
Even a goof as big as the Lying Jackal should know this.

What makes you think it would be a section 13 complaint?

Some of us who have been writing against human rights commissions—whether libertarian or social conservative like myself—are against government censorship of political expression in principle.
I think a better political tactic against Ryan and CUPE is to push for a law that allows people to divert their dues to a charity of their choice if the union gets involved in political activities beyond collective agreements and workplace safety etc.

Yeah, but didn’t you know? A hallmark of all Good Citizens™ is an uncritical defence of Israel. Even the Kinsella knows that.
I don’t agree with the CUPE decision – while boycott did help end South African apartheid, I’m unsure as to why this movement is targeting academic institutions instead of commerce or foreign aid. If anything, the academic community is the one community that shouldn’t be boycotted under any circumstances. I’m not sure what the outcome is supposed to be here.
Also, somebody please explain to me how I’m an anti-Semite* for calling for a debate about the issue of the boycott instead of supporting a unilaterally-made decision. I guess if the decision is pro-Israel then no debate is needed. It’s interesting to note that a decision that is not pro-Israel should suddenly be debated! Widely! Consistency be damned!

The Jackal doesn’t seem to realize that the HRC’s will defend Islamists and thus by extension their sympathisers like Ryan.
