Whether Sweden is making the situation worse by granting these violent fanatics a hecklers’ veto – which is how they’ve been dealing with anti-Jewish incitement for years – is something totally different. Across Sweden Jewish buildings are being set on fire:

Police in Sweden are on heightened alert following a spike in anti-Semitic attacks around the country in the wake of Israel’s campaign against Gaza-based Hamas militants. A wooden staircase at a Jewish center in Helsingborg in southern Sweden was set alight twice in three days in the past week in a blaze police suspect was caused by flammable liquid spread over the stairs, according to the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) newspaper. Technicians continue to examine the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire. And late Sunday night the Israeli embassy in Stockholm was covered with graffiti proclaiming, “Crush Israel, you broke the ceasefire!” and included other proclamations such as “Die!” and “Murderers”.

Mobs are have been rampaging through the streets chanting “Hitler! Hitler! Hitler!” At the end of last month police stood aside while Jews were attacked in broad daylight on Swedish streets:

What did the police do when these attacks were being executed by the arabs? Nothing at first, then they decided to remove us from the square! Let me say that again – the police removed us, who had a permit to be there. We were not hostile or attacking anyone. But instead of removing them, who didnt have a permit, they removed us. I spoke with the chief of police, Ulf Sempert, who was there and asked him why they didnt act on the mob. His answer, as can be heard in the video that I will post here soon, is that they have a right to be there. Apparently, that right is only for pro-arabist who attacks others. Scandinavian progressives are one step ahead of Canada. In Toronto, when death threats are leveled at Jewish children the police order the Jewish children to leave. It is only a matter of time before Toronto police proudly stand by while Jews are attacked in broad daylight. Not to worry. Our government, our universities and our unions are on the case confronting Islamophobia. the flea

The situation in Sweden – as well as a number of other European countries – is quite different from Canada’s in that many of our Muslims are well integrated and well outside the Islamicist extreme. However, that can change rapidly if immigration from Islamic states and backward nations is encouraged.

At the same time when incidents such as the intimidation of students at York University and the shouting of anti-Semitic slurs such as “Die bitch, go back to Israel”, “Die Jew, get the hell off campus”, “F-ing Jew”, “racists off campus” by pro-Hamas students go entirely unpunished, we are not terribly far away from the ugliness we have seen in Sweden.
