Shrooms, Man
The leader of destitute North Korea gave his presidential guest from the South four tonnes of prized pine mushrooms worth up to $2.6 million at their summit this week, South Korean media reported on Friday. reuters
Ok, perhaps I am a bit strange but I can’t help but admire Kim Jong-il. The perfect gift.
“Hi honey, I’m home.”
“What’s in the several trucks parked outside dear?”
“Pine Mushrooms.”
“No, really, what’s in the trucks?”
“Four tonnes of pine mushrooms, honeybunch. A tonne more than that twat Kim Dae-jung got.”
“I’m thinking quiche….”
Mr. Roh is in a world of trouble on the home front.

I’m living in Japan. Pine Mushrooms are the truffles of East Asia. The wild ones–probably what Kim gave Roh, considering the value–are really really good. Of course, the pine forests of North Korea is gulag land. Kim Jong Il most likely has his zeks scrounging the woods for the fungus-worth-its-weight-in-gold. Roh is probably eating political prisoner mushrooms tonight. Bon appetit.
