Scramble the Airbrushes!
You ought to restore your original attribution of Steyn’s excerpt to America Alone rather than just changing it to the Fallaci review (Dr. Miller accused Steyn of taking material for his review of Oriana Fallaci’s final book The Force Of Reason from illegitimate sources…) without disclosure. comment from belial at big city liberal
First you make yourself look like an idiot with badly sourced material (lawiscool claims responsibility “See the post at Big City Lib on the info we leaked to him.”) and then you quietly correct your errors without mentioning you post publication edits. (Oh, and you delete comments which underline your imbecility.)

figures… wont apologize and then he tries to make it look like he never said what he said…

They have all the scrambled brains of bugs that were just zapped by the bug light.
“You can roger the hell out of them and they just keep bleating”...great Steynism
I can hardly wait for the “silence of the lambs” ;-)

I love BCL’s fabulous third-grade comeback to belial: “Bite me.”
December 1st, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Thanks for the quote (not to mention thanks to Steyn as well for the link) but which comments did BCL delete? As far as I could tell he left them all up, including my original one intemperately calling him a name.

Perhaps, besides a comprehension problem, the journalism quack is also somewhat colourblind.

I posted at least one and I think two pointing out that I had, a few days ago at Law is Cool, mentioned a 5 minute search on Amazon and ABE as a good place to start.
December 1st, 2008 at 4:11 pm
You know what’s freakin’ hilarious? I added a comment to Law R Us today mentioning that AFTER they sneered at Steyn as a “dropout”, they misspelled “chauvinistic” and used “degenerate” when they meant “denigrate”. The moderators declined to post my comment—but they CORRECTED the mistakes!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA

The law is cool kids are borderline illiterate. Go and read their posts on Steyn – they are full of ungrammatical sentences, poor spelling, etc.
You couldn’t manufacture better examples of the rotten state of Canadian education – mindless political correctness combined with utter ignorance.

It is pretty remarkable. I am more concerned about the Lawiscool kids’ usage rather than their spelling. Writing fast you can miss spelling errors. As they are apparently law students they are likely to have “good” undergraduate degrees. Which makes one wonder what the value of those pieces of paper is.

If I had the time, I’d love to do a post at the Shotgun on this.
They represent the reductio of all of the bad trends in Canadian education in the last generation or more.
And they are still claiming that the English translation of the blue book is faulty! Maybe they read and write ungrammatical Persian too.
BTW, why has Steyn taken down his challenge to BCL and the school kidz?
I don’t see it on his site anymore.
December 1st, 2008 at 7:41 pm
You are right about the spelling. But grammar needs to be taught – it’s conceptual. You can’t just look up the rules mechanically.
I taught for a year at UBC and the students’ writing was very bad. And this was at an elite school.

Craig – Steyn’s challenge is still t here, he just extracted it and other update stuff from his original post and moved it to a separate post.

Thanks, Belial. Hard to believe that those ass-hats at Law is Cool are still in denial!
December 2nd, 2008 at 9:47 pm
The “ass-hats at Law is Cool” have outdone themselves. As noted by a commenter over at BCL, they’ve now posted an “Update #4” to the John Miller’s Open Letter thread – which is submerged on page 2 of their site and unlikely to be found, and as to which comments seem to be closed.
I posted the following comment to their new Steyn thread though.
http://lawiscool.com/2008/12/02/lawiscool-exclusive-mark-steyn-exists/
The comment is “awaiting moderation.” Any bets as to whether it will come through moderation intact?
For pompous law students whose butts are smarting from the Steyn smackdown, though, not so much.

This has gotten way beyond ridiculous. The Law R Kool-Aid kids have moved the goalposts so often they’re not even in the same county any more. The standard of proof now demanded has quite obviously been reverse-engineered to render quoting the Ayatollah effectively impossible. The process has been very entertaining (and very instructive of human nature) to watch.
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:46 am
Well now they are no longer publishing comments from “Steynians” so the poor goalposts might get a rest.
December 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Doc Miller has a new post up—he reminds me of a frat pledge repeating “Please, sir, may I have another?” after each smack from the paddle. He basically admits Steyn’s points re: The Great Ayatollah Quote Controversy—
As he “was led to believe”? Professor, say it ain’t so—you took her word for it?!? Isn’t that the first deadly sin of “responsible journalism” per one Doctor J. Miller? (The Little Green Book has not been discredited, incidentally—the complaint against the LGB is not that the statements were never made—they were—but that only some of the nuttier pronouncements were selected).

Fair play to Steyn over this; he’s had to deal with these petty and ignorant “dickheads” for quite some time now. And I think he’s proven his credentials. I just wanna hear more on the Gnostic version of the Gospel according to Obama. For the non-believers of course.
