“The outline for a durable ceasefire is clear: Hamas must end its rocket fire: Israel will complete the withdrawal of its forces from Gaza: the US and our partners will support a credible anti-smuggling and interdiction regime, so that Hamas cannot re-arm,” the US president said.

“As part of a lasting ceasefire, Gaza’s border crossings should be open to allow the flow of aid and commerce, with an appropriate monitoring regime, with the international and Palestinian Authority participating.” financial times

Er. why, yes. Israel is now out of Gaza again.

As for re-opening the crossings it would make great good sense if there were not the possibility of more rockets and missiles arriving via those crossings. Debka is talking about a ship with 60 tons of arms heading towards Gaza.

I would be delighted if the Gazans were able to reopen the crossings without it being an pure threat to Israel. But, to do that, they need to rid themselves of Hamas.

Let’s hope.

Update fron the Unicorn-Rainbow wire service:

Unicorn and rainbow observers have spotted the phenomena recently at reopened Gaza crossing points.

Other observers spotted a fleet of magic unicorns boarding an Iranian arms ship flying a Cypriot flag headed for Gaza. Rainbows were reported to magically appear when the Unicorns confiscated the cargo of some 60 tons of rockets.

Unicorn and Rainbow agnostics continue to wonder how long magic can maintain peace in Gaza without a continued Iranian shipping blockade.

WL Mackenzie, your post leads me to think that you’re some kind of cynic!

(I already own a shirt with a drawing of Obama riding a unicorn, so hey, who am I to judge?)

Renee when you have witnessed the dogmatic left working the clueless as long as I have, cynicism is a life preserver.

See, Renee, the handpuppet WLMR has witnessed these things. We just blindly live our lives unaware of the glory that is cutting and pasting the same cliched tired slogans over and over and over… for not that much of a point. Watch out. He’ll call you a leftard soon. Yeowch!
