Is Beruit Burning…No, seriously

beruit smoke fake LOL. I can barely fix red eye and colour balance a pic in Photoshop but I could make more convincing smoke than this.

Apparently, Adnan Hajj of Reuters is the smoke artist. Of course, Adnan was also the chap snapping the Qana dead baby wranglers.

You can have fun you can read the comments at sportshooter.com. Charles, at LGF, has a lovely animation of the two identical buildings in the lower left quadrant of the picture.

As one commentor at sportshooter put it:

If your going to ruined your career, at least work on the photo a little longer than two minutes.

Over to you Antonia
. After all, you don’t need to manipulate the media if the media are willing to lie your way all on their own.

Update: Reuters has pulled the picture

“Reuters said that “photo editing software was improperly used on this image. A corrected version will immediately follow this advisory. We are sorry for any inconvience.”

Reuters’ head of PR Moira Whittle said in response: “Reuters has suspended a photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to a photograph showing smoke billowing from buildings following an air strike on Beirut. Reuters takes such matters extremely seriously as it is strictly against company editorial policy to alter pictures.”

Good on Charles Johnson at LGF who notches another MSM kill to go with his brilliant work on Dan Rather and the fake memos. Just as importantly: this was a great example of how blogs can do what the mainstream media is apparently unable to do: fact check and call obvious political bias.

Ideally, Adnan Hajj – the very soon to be ex-Reuters photographers experience will remind every photojournalist and reporter that they are being watched. Watched for bias, watched for staging, watched for manipulation: there are literally tens of thousands of bloggers engaged with this and they bring a huge set of skills to detecting and revealling the frauds the MSM either try to perpetrate or are complicit in passing on.

Update #2: Jawa Report nails Adnan Hajj on a pic purporting to be of an F-16 shooting missiles….It was dropping a flare and our man Hajj just cut and pasted a pattern. Lovely. And there’s more.

Powerline has a classic where Reuters published a Hajj photo two weeks ago of a bombed out building and then, two days ago, publishes another Hajj photo of the same building with the caption: “”A Lebanese woman looks at the sky as she walks past a building flattened during an overnight Israeli air raid on Beirut’s suburbs August 5, 2006. (Adnan Hajj/Reuters)”

And more, Drinking from Home has the same Lebanese women wailing over the loss of her home…two weeks apart. Here, however, there are different phtographers and agencies: she wailed for Reuters on June 26, AP on August 5.

Reuters has announced that it will not be using any more of Adnan Hajj’s work.

As far as Antonia and her stooges go, this is allowable manupulation, it is only when the U.S, Israel or Britian do it , is it wrong. After all Michael Moore is her hero.
By the way, I think Arthur D, is her alter ego, he says things, she would like to say, but cannot because she works for the Star, she even deletes his comments, but then has to tell us she agrees with him.
Check this out, very interesting if you have not seen it yet, in response to pro-Hex pickets at Marks and Spencer in England. I commented it to Zerb’s site, quoting some of the poem, but she never posted it!. What was she afraid of ??

Smoke Signals Photo Removed by Reuters

Are you kidding me? We’re sorry for the inconvenience? That’s not an inconvenience. It’s actively engaging in propaganda for terrorists.
