Insight Redux

I suspect that I personally would be offended by the Catholic teachings Catholic Insight has published. This would account for my being an Anglican – which carries its own weight of offense. However, the Roos, scared to death of the velocity of the anger directed towards their criminal administration of s. 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, have concluded:

“the material is not likely to exposes a person or persons to hatred or contempt based on sexual orientation.” ezra (pbuh)

Part of me wants to say, “Well duh” but another part of me wants to suggest that Catholic teachings might indeed have precisely that effect. The Catholic Church is not noted for being particularly progressive on gay issues and, realistically, its teaching that it is a sin to engage in homosexual sexual activity could rather easily be taken as implying contempt for an essential aspect of being homosexual.

The CHRC does not want to go there. And who can blame them? Calling out the Catholics in Canada is not a winner on the political front.

Right now the CHRC is in the “war room” praying to the God of its choice that it can survive the blogosphere’s assault on its criminal behaviour and on the very conception which underlies its ability to act as censor. It is just hoping that it can avoid controversy while it investigates itself. (I’m not liking the blind guy’s chances and the perjuring manager is not looking too good.)

Poor Ms. Lynch, QC didn’t have a clue that there was this much velocity out there…And she has seen nothing yet.

“its teaching that it is a sin to engage in homosexual sexual activity could rather easily be taken as implying contempt for an essential aspect of being homosexual.”

By that definition then, the Catholic Church’s teaching imply contempt for murderers, abortionists, thieves, Sunday shoppers and those who withhold food and money from the poor as well.
