How Green the Bekka Valley

R.J. Jago has found fish, a barrel and a shotgun. The meanie has sent email to Green candidates asking if they considered Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

There is a sort of bell curve of responses ranging from one benighted soul who seems to think Hezbollah is Hamas, a whole heap pointing to the Green Party’s denial that Hezbollah was even at the “peace rally” in TO and then into some rather sound thinking on the nature of terrorism and the proper response to it.

Great blogpost title, though I think Beka’a has 1 x K, 2 x A (and an optional apostrophe to let the reader know “I do not Other the Arabic peoples”).

Rod, no doubt you are right but I tend to follow T.E, Lawrence’s observation, and I paraphrase, that it is effectively impossible to definitively translate Arabic place names into English with any consistency.

I have zero problem with the “Othering” thing.
