Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry?

Michael Ignatieff appears poised to become federal Liberal leader on Wednesday with the support of a majority of Grit MPs and senators.

But his chief rival, Bob Rae, is not going down without a fight. He’s challenging the legitimacy of a leadership process that excludes tens of thousands of rank and file Liberals. canadian press

The Jackal is on his way to Jamaica…his work done.

This is wonderful! The Count kicks ass in Canadian Politics, does an end run around the Convention process, underbuses Dion and Rae and is stuck with the Coalition.

Just when you think it can’t get any better….it does.

We are watching the Strange (and I do mean Strange) Death of the Liberal Party in Canada.

To make it perfect, Bob Rae would lead his dogged band of followers to the NDP where he could finish off Smilin’ Jack.

(And, Bob, could you please remember to take Shelia, Carrolyn Parrish and Mr. Dosanjh on you way out. Thanks.)

Update: Buried deep in the Macleans’ comments Ben the Tiger nails it:

Oh, the heck with that. I’m just admiring the man’s tradecraft.

He just rolled Bob Rae — getting him onside for moving up the process, then doubling back, securing the interim leadership, and turning it into a coronation.

Artfully done. Had he been in charge of the Coalition’s movements, I think he might be PM right now.

Snort!

I can`t believe Taliban Jack took off so soon. He could have gotten so much more great press coverage from our totally unbiased MSM.

Iggy “Pop”....An asterisk in Canadian history. Not quite as cool as the original.

Iggy do yourself a favour, phone Kim Campbell she will give you some useful advice.

I can’t say I want the death of the Liberal party. Renewal, yes, and the shadier characters turfed. But I want an elected and effective opposition sitting in parliament. Wishing for the death of a political party seems rather extreme to me, and I thought I was a bit of a wingnut.
