Dr. Day is an enormously accomplished orthopedic surgeon. He was frustrated and then motivated to start his own fee for service surgical clinic for a simple reason: he could only get a day and a half a week in the UBC/VGH Hospital where he was practising. Now this is a guy who wanted to do two hips and three knees a day. And it was not as if there was not the demand for his services.

Day is not a wide eyed zealot but he is more than capable of being a strong advocate for a role for private care.
