Hamas on the Ropes…But not out
“Hamas is in a very difficult position,” the Egyptian official said. “On the ground, their militants are not doing as good a job, not matching their rhetoric. But politically, they have been totally taken over by their sponsors.“The guys inside are holding their ground, but they don’t want to continue the confrontation,” the official said. Egypt talks to Hamas but is not eager to see the radical Islamic group succeed in running a small statelet next door. nyt
The Israelis are winning; but they have only a dozen days, maybe three weeks to nail Hamas. To win Hamas has to surrender. Which would mean the PA back in Gaza and, most importantly, the capacity of Hamas to bring in arms destroyed. A win will be tough.
Tough but vital. Israel has to finish Hamas. Despite the whining of the Western Hamas supporters and the perfunctory denunciations of the liberal Kumbaya singers; Israel must finish its job and the Hamas members, hiding in hospitals at the moment, need to be finished once and for all.
Any less and the Israelis will have killed the innocent civilian shields for nothing.
Israel needs to convincingly, absolutely, win this battle. Hamas must not only be defeated, it needs to be humiliated enough to understand its place int the world.
Godspeed IDF.

Frankly Israel is damned if it does or doesn’t – so it may as well finish the job. There is a sort of freedom in being hated no matter what you do.

This seems so strait forward, the simple fact is that Hamas just needs to stop firing rockets into Israel. I don’t know all the nuts and bolts of this, but I do know that Israel made some serious concessions in the past few years, and as they have not been effective in stopping their being attached. This seems to be the only, at its best, terrible, solution to the group who have been terrorizing Israel. My prayers are for the poor people being hurt by this, in both Israel and the obvious innocent majority of people in Palestine.

“the obvious innocent majority of people in Palestine.”
Really? I’m not so sure.
