Ha, ha, ha…a debate…a response…Run Away

Instead, when I heard about it, I immediately said, great, let’s have a debate. No point me being in the same studio as the Sock Puppets and being kept in a hermetically sealed compartment. Yet even with a three-to-one advantage the Socks pussied out.

This is Islam as represented by the likes of the Canadian Islamic Congress. They don’t want any kind of honest open debate, because they can’t handle it. That’s why they prefer to use government agencies to shut down debate on the specious grounds of invented crimes like “Islamophobia”. And apparently TV producers, having been complicit in the fraud that the Sock Puppets are “the complainants”, are willing to protect the wee sensitive souls from any exposure of the charade. mark steyn

Has anyone told the Socks that in law the other side has a lawyer too?

These kids are priceless. They have galvanized the right and made the CHRC a laughingstock. Now they have demonstrated pure cowardice as wannabe bullies usually do.

If I were a Muslim I’d be ashamed.

Update: The reporting is not clear but it looks like the Socks - having already secured the coveted horse’s asses trophy for 2008 - are willing to debate Steyn after all so long as they don’t have to talk to him directly. Him, them, him.

Please God, someone put the tape on You-Tube. Perhaps the CIC will do the honours.

Especially after what is, apparently a boffo performance by the Socks:

As confirmed tonight by that words-cannot-express display on TVO this evening, when cornered, self-appointed Muslim spokesbots:

a) lie
b) change the subject
c) sweat profusely
d) pout
e) compare Orianna Fallaci to Ernst Zundel five feet of fury

The Socks should have stuck with Plan “A”: Runaway!

Update II: Again from Kathy.

A sort of Islamic hip-hop. Rai without the beat.

“We just wanted a chance for open debate, the right to respond.”

“We just wanted a chance for debate, but not directly or have to respond to others”

“We just wanted a chance to tell our side of the story without any chance of debate”

“We just want everyone to think just like us.”

“Everyone needs to think like us….. or else”

Is it a natural progression?

And why does TVO, a public funded network, twist its credibility in knots to humour these little barfs? They’re trying desperately to stack the deck so the whiners won’t look ridiculous, and nobody will accuse TVO of being - inhale deeply, brace yourself - islamophobic.

I don’t think debate was ever in the cards here. It’s possible the show’s producers just wanted some Muslims on hand to “balance” the coverage of Steyn’s “Islamophobic” writing: an attempt on their part to forestall any criticism from the Muslim community for giving publicity to Steyn. But in that case they could just as easily have invited some moderate Islamic scholar on the show. Why involve the Socks?

Steyn is absolutely right in demanding a chance for rebuttal afterwards. This smells like a setup.

B-b-but months of non-stop whining followed by displays of abject cowardice is “the Canadian way”, no?

Seriously, though: It’s hard to see how this situation could get any funnier. But if anyone can manage, it’ll be this bunch of sub-literate sockpuppet law students.

Try harder, cute little greater-jihadis!

It’s too bad. I was looking forward to making some popcorn and sit back and watch Steyn pull their wings off.

Hogwash, Jay. If you were a Muslim you’d be a suicide bomber. You have the zealous mentality for it.

LOL if they think that debating Mr. Steyn is something to cower from then they better grow a spine and get preparded for the scorn that shall be heaped on the real complainants (Elmasry and Habib) and their supporters come tribunal time. Did they really think we’d fall for their miss information (they filed complaints) or we’d believe their continuous back pedaling?

Liars liar’s pants on fire is the song I’m humming at the moment, they’ve done irreversable harm to Muslim versus Non-Muslims relationships in Canada perhaps that was their real GOAL?

TVO and Steyn did well.

Sockpuppets less well and demonstrated why we should be very, very afraid of lawyers and their special interest groups and private clubs called law societies.

They appear not to have history nor sociology as an elective!

That was AWESOME. Steyn actually forced a debate — and Paikin, to his credit, went along with it, while the Sock Puppets grew increasingly rattled and petulant.

The show airs again tonight at 11 PM. I may just watch it again, this time with a bowl of popcorn.

It would have been better if Steyn forced then to stop their 3 major lies and 1 major misconception:

1) Islamism is NOT a faith/people

2) That disagreeing with the tenets of “Islamism” ( a political/legal philosopy is not “racism” it is fair political commentary on a theocratic political orthodoxy

3) according to facts, history and the words and actions of “Islamists” and their leaders “islamophobia” is well founded.

Misconception: these kids just don’t “get” the concept that every personal complaint and difference of opinion deserves government intervention….maybe in a theocracy, but not in a liberal democracy.

“very afraid of lawyers and their special interest groups and private clubs called law societies.”

Yeah, look out, LS, I’m comin’ to get you!
Grow up. I’m a lawyer, belng to the Law Society of Upper Canada, and if you complained about me they’d be on your side. I’d be the one answering the hard questions.
This trio is not typical of the legal profession; they are an embarassment. BTW, you are aware Ezra Levant is a lawyer?

McClelland is now turning Islamaphobic.

‘Hogwash, Jay. If you were a Muslim you’d be a suicide bomber. You have the zealous mentality for it.’

He is suggesting that Muslims’s are suicide bombers, !

i’m surprised steyn didn’t ask the socks to examine elmo’s bona fides…surely THAT would have left them speechless and gasping for air….i mean really…they are fronting for a self acknowledged hater of the jews…how do they square THAT circle ?

And yet, Mr. Rivers, if one were to complain to the Law Society about Richard Warman, one would find them unequivocally on his side. And the same would be true for every one of these little sock puppets.

If you’re trying to say that you’re not like this, and there are other decent lawyers like you, well, you’re at least half right, and I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt as to your half. But please don’t give us this shit about “they’re not representative”. They are entirely representative of the mainstream of the legal profession.
