From the Dawg behind Enemy (well his enemy) lines

P-203. Essentially get rid of Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act. Unsurprisingly, passed, overwhelmingly. dr dawg

Well that’s good news!

Now to get the PMO and Cabinet on board.

(Oh, and it has to get past the Plenary Session tomorrow. Which means that it has to be approved by some CPC muckety, mucks. I suspect having been passed handily in the workshops the Resolution should pass the Plenary. But it would be best if it passed the Plenary by a very, very, wide margin. Basically, Harper should have no wriggle room here.

And people who are at the convention, keep an eye on how MPs vote tomorrow. It would be good to know who our friends are and if we have any enemies.)

Jay, if you could correct my faute de frappe, I’d be obliged. It’s appearing everywhere.

It still has to go through plenary tomorrow, but no sweat there.

Bizarrely phrased, though, don’t you think? Why not repeal a section, rather than making that section impossible to use? Weird.

PMSH will pay no attention, but I’m pleased, vicariously, that you have had a moment of happiness, however short-lived.

Unfortunately, we conservatives don’t get tingles up our legs like Chris Matthews at MSNBC, but we do occasionally raise an eyebrow, clear our throats and ask for extra pepper.

Much as I hate to admit that the Dawgster is correct on this, I think he might well be. That is, PMSH doesn’t have a huge stake in seeing the Sec 13 issue become a public flap.
On the other hand, so many supposed opposition groups are onside with repealing, or at least defanging it, that what’s the harm in doing so? There’s still anti-hate criminal legislation as a fallback.
On balance, way more future downside from letting it fester than from taking action soon. On that issue, what’s taking the RCMP so long in their investigation? If this was a grow op the perps’d be in jail and their personal property confiscated by now.

I apologise if I’m not supposed to be here, but this page is linked from other pages overjoyed about getting rid of S13.

However, we don’t know what this is about since nobody has said anywhere in this or related posts, what’s going on. What plenary session are we talking about? Whose convention? Who is “PMSH “? etc etc.

Thanks for inviting us in to read this. Sorry about all the dumb questions.
