Cold Comfort

Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message. These diving instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years. That could mean global warming has taken a breather. Or it could mean scientists aren’t quite understanding what their robots are telling them. npr

This is an interesting story in itself; but watching NPR spin it to somehow save St. Algore and the increasingly unicorn like theory of global warming is sheer delight.

The basic line of the warmists seems to be: more snow - global warming, cooler temperatures - global warming, increased ice cap - global warming. No matter what the weather or the ocean or th trend seems to be doing any fool can tell you that it’s global warming. And, of course, we all know that the only possible cause of all that global warming is us. What else could it be? Which means we have to DOOOOO SOMETHING! No matter how foolish.

The sad fact being that despite the wheels coming off much of the science and all of the economics, we have ninnies in government busting their butts to do something, anything, no matter how lame. Because, for the moment, there are just enough scientifically and economically stunned people who will vote against any government which is not seen as doing enough to prevent this scourge. And they are passionate in their idiocy.

Oh Jay, you heartless denialist, next you’ll be saying snarky things about Warren K.

I disagree with your views on Climate Change in as much as the data I have seen indicates global warming similar to that experienced over thousands and millions of years plus the trends within trends such as “the little ice age” and “the medieval warm period”. Where I do agree with you is the issue of causality: I don’t think it the extent of the impact of human activity on these trends have been demonstrated. And finally, therefore, I think the question is not so much what do we do to stop global warming (because it may well be a geological phenomenon totally unconnected to human activity) but moreso how do we respond to climate change and things like rising sea levels. As an island dweller yourself, you may be interested.

This is just another example of the models saying one thing, but the actual facts from the real world saying another.

Climate change in the media is like this: scary 15 point headline, scary 12 point lede, scary first few paragraphs, actual finding buried, scientist saying “may, might, could…”.

I stop reading when I get to the phrase “…models say”.

Very much like the old saying: a warmer is someone who sees something work in practice, and wonders if it should work in theory.

BTW, this is a “go to site” that is showing just how malevolent some warmers can get:
