The Bloc called it right when they said this wasn't the real budget, that the real one would be for next year.

If the budget had too many radical changes or initatives, the outcry would have been so great that even the Bloc would not feel obliged to support it.

The important thing about this budget is that its mindset is different. The point of the tax credits is not so much to actually transfer cash back into pockets, but to get the government structure used to the idea that it doesn't need the money. It's change that's one degree at a time, but it's change nonetheless.

I'm very upset about the 25% spending increase as well. 25 measly freakin' percent? WHERE ARE OUR NUKES?!? If Iran gets nukes we should have nukes too! And Cobra attack helicopters. And a stealth fighter (Warren Kinsella wearing bunny slippers doesn't count).

We need at least a 4 gazillion percent increase in military spending. We can easily cover the cost by having our newly equipped military kill off all the welfare moms and turning their children into mulch, which will then be sold at a profit.

It's all about having priorities.

After the years of cuts under the Liberals the military needs realistic funding. Especially when we have work to do in Afghanistan and, possibly, Darfur.

As it happens the military is one of the very few areas of federal responsibility which really needs more rather than less money directed to it.

That's it Jay. Ignore the outrageous 25% spending increase to the military over 4 years. If that had occured to any other spending item you'd be screaming about it.
