As Father Dall’Oglio warns darkly, Muslims are in dialogue with a pope who evidently does not merely want to exchange pleasantries about coexistence, but to convert them. This no doubt will offend Muslim sensibilities, but Muslim leaders are well-advised to remain on good terms with Benedict XVI. Worse things await them. There are 100 million new Chinese Christians, and some of them speak of marching to Jerusalem – from the East. A website entitled Back to Jerusalem proclaims, “From the Great Wall of China through Central Asia along the silk roads, the Chinese house churches are called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ all the way back to Jerusalem.” spengler, the asia times
One hesitates to imagine what the more excitable Mohammedans will make of the idea that Christianity has been in the conversion business several hundred years longer than they have. Surely the Socks can pony up a complaint about the Pope.
Imagine suggesting that people who believe in Islam will, well, go straight to Hell. Can one say this? Does this ensure a Human Rights Complaint? Is evangelization contrary to the Canadian Human Rights Act?
Why not also remind them that they follow the bastard line of the family tree?
Abraham (Ibrahim)+ Ishmael = Islam
Abraham + Isaac = Judaism and Christianity
That should piss them off too. And maybe ensure another HRC complaint.
Of course, I’ve always said Christianity is really nothing more than a Jewish cult. Funny though, I’ve never gotten death threats (fatwas) from fellow Christians for saying so.
There are people who should just stay away from religion…it is a deadly weapon in the wrong hands.
I find myself wishing we had politicians in Canada with even HALF the ‘cojones’ of Pope Benedict XVI. The man continues to impress me more with every passing day. Pope Benedict seems to be one of the few people on the international stage with a clue to what is actually happening.
It’s been a long time since the Vatican has attracted my attention this much. Then again, people forget that the Roman Church’s Pope is also head of state (i.e. Vatican City). Pope Benedict XVI is the only western politician with the theological understanding necessary to answer the theological/political Islamist threat to the West and to freedom of religious expression everywhere.
The SOCK PUPPETS should file a complaint against Pope Benedict XVI. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see Khurrum Awan debate Benedict XVI about Islamic theology and how it is inconsistent with prevailing fundamental western Judeo-Christian values and constructs.
I haven’t seen really great comedy on TV in years.
