Blackmail is never “reasonable”
“However, in light of the editors’ latest assertion we are making a fair and reasonable proposal today. In exchange for Maclean’s publishing a mutually acceptable response to the
Steyn article from an agreed upon author, we would be prepared to settle this
matter.” “We hope that Maclean’s will reciprocate our efforts to resolve this matter without a hearing before an independent quasi-judicial body in British Columbia,” continued Joseph. deborah gyapong
Do the initial demand was for full editorial control over an issue of Macleans, now, faced with losing big time and looking like baffoons, the Islamic-3 (well actually the Canadian Islamic Congress) is willing to accept coerced co-editorship.
While this is being dressed up as reasonable it is, in fact, just as unreasonable as the earlier demand because it takes for granted that the CIC and its sock puppets have some sort of right of reply. They don’t. And there is nothing in the least bit reasonable about demanding one as a condition of dropping a profoundly obnoxious human rights complaint. You can spin this attempt any way you like but that will not disguise the fact it is a species of blackmail.
I trust that Macleans will respond with the contempt these blackmailers deserve.
Update: I have been waiting for Kathy’s report of the Islam-3 circus all morning…It is well worth it.
Update2: Girl on the Right was there too...I trust wearing pearls and something sleeveless.

Jay I agree with the term Blackmail, because that is exactly what it appears to be. Forcing Macleans to give them FREE access to their pages to print Islamic Propagand is absolutely not acceptable. If they want to rebuttal Steyn they can start their own damn magazine and print as many articles as their little Political Islamists’ heart desires.
They have no damn right to ask for free access to independant organizations, beit private businesses or charities or magazines. If they want to participate in government enforced Sharia Law might I suggest Saudi Arabia, their demands are not acceptable to me as a citizen of a FREE and DEMOCRATIC country. The arrogance and apparent superiority of the CIC and it’s members might be acceptable in an Islamic country it is not acceptable in Canada.
If Macleans agrees with their demands the precident it sets will further demean our right for Freedom of Expression. How long before these Political Islamist start demanding free access to MSM?
Macleans please tell them to stuff their demands where the sun doesn’t shine, to do other wise is to surrender to Political Islam aka “dhimmihood”.

I don’t think Macleans will back down. But as a subscriber, I emailed them (and Rogers) to let them know if they do, I will cancel my subscription. Now, if enough subscribers – I mean those who believe in free speech and freedom of the press – tell them the same thing, maybe it will help ensure that they stand their ground.

Don’t just cancel a subscription. Think of everything Rogers owns: The Shopping Channel, the Rogers Center, phone service, internet, cable and the Blue Jays, Chatelaine, blah blah.
We could have a mass boycott up and running in three to five hours given time zones across the nation. In just a one day action, they could lose millions.

Time to file a human rights complaint against the Canadian Islamic Congress. I demand their website host 5000 word right of reply essays by Kathy Shaidle, Girl on the Right, Mark Steyn, Ezra Levant and a number of other authors including Jay Currie, of course.
I am thinking my own contribution will be something about how the Kaaba would make a great Call of Cthulhu LARP setting.

I think we should smother ourselves in Bacon before we march on their next meeting.

im having this horrible feeling(and thoughtdreams too) that the author faisal joseph is considering for writing the MacLeans rebuttal is going to be Warren Kinsella…...
gosh i hope it’s just a flasback from all that bum acid in the 60’s.

Time to sue and / or whine to some HRC over the antics of some of the supporters of the law school Islamo-brats.
Warren Kinsella is a perfect example. He abusively supports the Islamo-brats and yet bans commenters who criticize him. That would be at least me, and probably others.
After I file my complaint, I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.

Blackmail is always reasonable. The boyz have simply learned the lessons of Federal Provincial constitutional negotiations, where whining for filthy lucre always pays off with Triple 7’s on the Federal Provincial Loto.
If you think about it, its all so typically Canadian, eh?

Someone pretending to be Warren Kinsella has hacked his blog and posted statements pretending that WK thinks it’s a bad thing to insult other people’s religious beliefs.
