Behold the Power of the Jackal

(pic stolen from Moose and Squirrel)

Yup, that Jackal sure knows how to organize a boycott – 600 people turned out in London Ontario to hear Kathy, Ezra and Salim Mansur on Free Speech. You can read Kathy’s speech at Blazing Catfur.

One of the organizers said the head count was 580. Rory Leishman, the London Free Press columnist, said it was the largest political gathering ever held in London outside of an election campaign. ezra

Here’s another crowd shot stolen from Ezra.london free speech rally

Update: A correspondent informs me that there was a $5.00 admission fee! For political rallies in an election there is never an admission fee. Huge!

It was so good! You should have been there!

I was trying to get a few photos of the crowd buying books—and I thought, not a bad turnout. I waited to get a pic of a friend with Ezra. Then we walked into the auditorium, and it was almost packed! We had to go all the way to the top (at the back of the theatre)—I was hoping to plunk my butt right down in front, but there were no seats left. Can’t argue with success, though!

I had a tiny bit of video here: http://mooseandsquirrel.ca/2009/04/14/the-hrc-denormalization-squad-in-london-ontario-part-2/

(again with the lousy little point & shoot—sorry.) Turn up your volume and listen to the question and the laughter that follows—priceless!

And RightGirl found her leprechaun (http://girlontheright.com/2009/04/14/the-banned/)—his name is Salim Mansur ;)

I’m so sorry the pictures/video weren’t better—I didn’t want to be intrusive with my professional equipment. There were people taping the whole event—I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

As a well known observer of these recent events advised me recently: “Don’t waste your time fighting with [the Jackal] or listening to his criticisms. The man can’t even fill a room…”

Sure enough. When was the last time the Jackal last drew an audience of 600, with people lined up outside? He’s certainly never sold as many books as Ezra, or probably even me.

PS: Natasha, I hope you met Salim in person. He loves your blog and would like to put a face to the site!

The Jackal couldn’t get 6 punks to a free “Shit For Brains”concert.

Even though it was not much they also paid to get in. Great stuff. Keep up the great work.

Another stake in the heart of the Vampires.

Congratulations and thank you to Kathy, Ezra, and Salim for their courage and leadership against the Invasion of the Blood Suckers.

Kathy—no, I didn’t get to meet Salim. Actually, I’ve been a little under the weather, so I was trying to keep my distance from most people. But, all of you were great!

I thank him for his kind compliment—I’m very new to blogging (it’s a little weird) but I like it.

I was really proud of Londoners for turning out like that! (I guess it took me by surprise—I’ve become a tad cynical about this city over the years.) And perhaps the Free Press, in their own bumbling way, helped the event be the sell-out attraction it was! ;) They’re kind of like the Keystone Cops of journalism, aren’t they?

The gate admission was five bucks….that would deplete the fiscal resources of any pro-jackal heckler.

The $$$ is a clear indication to the PM that the “Denormalization” is gathering speed and he should soon get connected.

A special appearance at Ezra’s April 25th gig in Ottawa (his wife would be even better) would demonstrate his commitment to Freedom of Speech.

Thanks to BCL for helping create the non-controversy that made this event such a success! the free publicity generated by your smear campaign did wonders for us. :-)

My son was surprised at the size of the crowd. I guess he thought Mikey and I were the only real die-hards!

And I can see our tiny little heads in the middle at the back!

Absolutely worth the 2 hour drive.

And don’t forget folks, there was a cast of thousands around the country that only wish they could have been there too.
