As the fur flies around Richard Warman’s self confessed sock puppetry I wonder, not for the first time, at the entire process of using “handles” when commenting or writing about political issues. I am not entirely opposed to it. There are some situations - particularly work situations - which make using your real name problematic.
However, from a credibility standpoint, using a handle or posting comments as “anonymous” really does not cut it. Why should anyone take a person seriously who is unwilling to sign their name?
At least with “handles” we have some sense of who a person is because they may keep the same handle. However, “anonymous” denies even that.

Don’t take it too hard. I’m investing as much in this comment as you do in your posts.
It allows some the opportunity to exhibit “copy-and-paste” as exercising the intellect.
Cheers
nah….you are certainly NOT investing as much sincerely held opinion….otherwise you would be unafraid to append your name to your jocundities.
i wonder why the timidity….are you frightened of being shown to be a shallow callow fellow ?
I’m a handle. I would like not to be a handle, I would prefer to be a real person on my blog. However when my main income relies very heavily on me being able to interact with ideologically opposed and unforgiving folk, I prefer the name-handle option to the pan-handle one.
I’m proud of my little blog, yet rarely speak of it. My readers have to find me from searches or links - not my personal recommendation. One day that may change, in the meantime I will continue to blog, and if you discount the thoughts/opinions I write because I use a handle, then I will have to accept that as a cost of protecting my livelihood.
